Our CEO Steve Szudera
With decades of experience spanning multiple industries, Steven Szudera has built a reputation as a dedicated leader and visionary in real estate investment and private money lending. Born on January 15, 1958, in Beach, North Dakota, Steve’s journey is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to helping others achieve financial success.
After graduating from Beach Public School in 1976, Steve pursued his education in diesel mechanics, attending Diesel Trade School from 1976 to 1979. His early career began at Cummins Diesel Sales, where he worked from 1979 to 1982. However, following the oil field crash in 1982, Steve took matters into his own hands, launching his own diesel repair business before returning to full-time farming—a profession that would shape his work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit for decades.
In 2003, Steve transitioned into real estate, starting with fix-and-flip projects in the single-family housing market. By 2005, he expanded into commercial multifamily properties, gaining valuable experience in large-scale investments. Even as he continued to grow his real estate portfolio, he remained active in farming, significantly expanding his agricultural operations between 2007 and 2019. However, in the fall of 2019, he made the pivotal decision to shut down his farm and focus solely on real estate.
By 2020, Steve shifted his attention to lot flipping, a move that allowed him to refine his expertise in land transactions. In 2023, he returned to commercial multifamily investments and self-storage projects, further cementing his reputation in the industry. In 2024, Steve took his passion for real estate finance to the next level by founding Great Plains Capital, a private money brokering firm dedicated to providing investors with a one-stop shop for all their funding and real estate service needs.
